Picking a Running Shoe

Running shoes are designed to protect your feet from the road, provide traction on different surfaces, cushion the landing shock, and support your feet. However, finding the right running shoe is difficult because everyone's feet are different, and there are many different features in running shoes. It's okay to experiment with different brands and types to help you find the shoe that's right for you. Here are some tips on finding the right shoe:

  • Buy shoes designed for running: Running shoes are designed to absorb 2.5 times your body weight. If you plan on running 3 or more times a week you should invest in a running shoe. Running shoes protect your feet and legs from the stress of foot landing. Running shoes also have better stability, cushioning, traction, and breath-ability.

  • Determine your foot shape: Figuring out whether you have a high or low arch is important so that you can find a running shoe that supports your foot rather than harms it.

  • Midsole Technology: The midsole provides the cushioning and rebound to your foot. It is your foot's protection against the pavement, thus it is a very important part of the shoe to consider when buying running shoes. Shoes differ in the type of midsoles they use, so look into multiple kinds and determine what is best for your running style.

Remember not all feet are the same, so not all running shoes are equal.
